The dog services listed on this page are not necessarily endorsed by Dorset Dogs, but those listed below are in support of responsible dog walking and have formally stated that they agree with the Professional Dog Walkers’ Charter (which incorporates the Doggy Do Code).
You and your dog should of course check that your dog walker is the best one for you as this might depend on all sorts of factors.

Professional dog walkers are commercial businesses and usually walk multiple dogs at once, so they have an additional duty to operate responsibly. They also have an excellent opportunity to set a positive example to other dog walkers. However, there are currently no national regulations for commercial dog walking, except where it is done as part of a day care or home boarding service (you should check with Dorset Council or BCP Council for licensed day care or home boarding businesses or to confirm the information on the license – only the local licensing authority holds this information).
The Dog’s Trust, RSPCA and Pet Industry Federation have joined forces to produce guidelines about finding a good dog walker, we would strongly recommend reading this for further guidance before choosing your Professional Dog Walker: Professional Dog Walkers’ Guidelines.
This includes sections on complying with legislation, relevant training, understanding a dog’s individual needs, transport, providing exercise (which includes not acting in a way or using equipment which would cause fear, anxiety or distress), group walking, returning home, lone working, emergencies as well as impact on the environment, other animals and people.
Professional Dog Walkers on this page have signed up to the Charter and agree that they operate their business in a professional manner but do ensure that you check for all relevant documentation including insurance.
